A 22-year-old woman identified as Judith Appiah Kubi is said to have committed suicide under very sad circumstances.
Appiah Kubi, from Assin Danwomako in the southern Assin district of the central region, committed suicide after being accused of witchcraft by her family’s pastors.
According to a report on Peace FM monitored by YEN.com.gh on Friday January 15, 2021, the pastors, Opoku Agyemang and Emma, had convinced the family that the deceased is the cause of her mother’s problems.
This led to hatred of the mother to the point that the deceased was kicked out of the family home and dishonored in the small town where he lived.
Finding things difficult, the deceased had to stop her studies and move to Assin Foso where she was registered as an apprentice seamstress.
While in Assin Foso, the mother went to the store where she was learning her trade to shame her for being “a witch”.
This led to the death leaving the first place to register with a new lady to continue her training in sewing.
Just a few days ago, the owner of the deceased in Assin Foso asked to speak to his mother, which she obliged. But her mother decided to speak badly to her once and tell the owner that her daughter was a witch.
After the call, the deceased would have entered her room and consumed a bottle full of gramozone, a weedicide.
She then collapsed and was rushed to Saint Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Foso. She was admitted and later transferred to Cape Coast Regional Hospital where she died.
Appiah Kubi’s father died years ago, according to the report, and she was living with her mother who began to abuse him after the pastor called her a witch.
