The Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) unveiled the winners of the 2018 International Contest that was held in Malaysia last year.
Over the years, UCMAS has focused on a brain development program for children aged 4 to 14 years. This program applies to more than 300 schools in 50 centers across the country.
The 2018 champions had the opportunity to demonstrate their speed and accuracy to the engaged public using an abacus, an ancient tool specialized in competitions.
After the competition, 38 people received various awards for their achievements from a total of 39 contestants.
Meanwhile, the final prize of the contest was awarded to Mrs. Aseyenedi Esi Tamakloe of Ancilla International School.
The finalists were David Commey, Racheal Larye, Ishmael Nortey from Alpha Beta School and Malik from Al Rayan International School.
In an interview with Ms. Aseyenedi Esi Tamakloe, he urged Ghanaians to consider the UCMAS program as an opportunity to improve their education, especially in arithmetic. She also advised them to enroll in the wonderful program to improve their learning skills.
Roger Ohemen, UCMAS Ghana's Chief Executive Officer, revealed that the competition is being held around the world to find talent from across the country who has proven that they can reach higher heights with the required training. .
According to him, a partnership is underway between UCMAS Ghana and the Ghana Education Service to extend the reach of the program to all children in the country, adding that they are committed to improving mathematics education. and sciences.
Mr. Ohemeng added that his team was working diligently to expand its program nationally, while measures are being put in place to help private and public schools participate in the contest.
He promised that the winners of this year's edition will be offered scholarship opportunities.
He urged the government and other stakeholders to support the program because they can not be left behind when it comes to supporting education in the country.
Andrews Quaning, Assistant Director of Science and Mathematics Education, said it was exciting and amazing for young people to acquire skills of such quality.
