A 40-year-old auto electrician was sentenced to 25 years in jail for fouling and impregnating his biological daughter through a Tarkwa circuit court.
Although the convict, Joseph Abaidoo, has denied the charges since the start of the proceedings, the court chaired by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew at the end of the trial found him guilty and found him guilty. convicted accordingly.
Prosecution, Juliana Essel-Dadzie, Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the victim was an unemployed 18-year-old girl who remains in Ankobra, near Esiama, with her mother who divorced the convict.
She stated that between 2012 and 2013, the victim as well as the convict and his mother-in-law lived in the same house in Prestea.
The prosecution stated that the convicted woman's wife traveled frequently because of the nature of his work as a trader.
According to DSP Essel-Dadzie, Abaidoo took advantage of his frequent absence and began to have bad with the victim in his bedroom and sometimes in his vehicle at night.
She said that when the victim, after a few months, realized that she was pregnant, she decided to move to her mother's house without the knowledge of the convict.
The Prosecution, however, indicated that Abaidoo had lodged a complaint about the abduction of a teacher from the victim's school but that he had not been arrested by the police for questioning.
She added that he then went to Ankobra in search of the victim, where he had fortunately met her.
DSP Essel-Dadzie said that in Ankobra, the victim had informed the convicted of his pregnancy in the presence of other members of his family, but he could not say a word.
The Prosecution stated that after returning to Prestea, Abaidoo sent a sum of 450,000 GH to his ex-wife by mobile money transaction and begged her to terminate her pregnancy.
DSP Essel-Dadzie stated that, although the victim's mother received the said amount, she did not give it to the victim so that she would terminate her pregnancy then four months old.
She stated that on April 11, 2013, the victim prematurely gave birth to a baby girl and that Abaidoo had sent GHC500 cedis to her maternal uncle to maintain them.
She said that in 2014, the maternal uncles of the victim had repeatedly invited the convict to allow him to perform rituals because what had happened between him and his daughter was an abomination but everything turned out to be futile.
DSP Essel-Dadzie said in February 2015 that the maternal uncles of the victim had reported the case to the police and that Aaidan had been arrested.
