Three suspected armed robbers were burned alive in Owerre Ebeiri, Orlu local government area, Imo state, after they were caught robbing traders in the market.
Imo State Police Commissioner Abutu Yaro confirmed this to reporters in Owerri on Sunday.
In addition, the suspects are believed to be members of a gang of armed thieves robbing commuters on the Owerri / Orlu road in the state.
However, the PC warned members of the public to refrain from bringing justice any time they arrest criminal suspects, saying they should always hand them over to the police for legal prosecution.

The police chief declared: “On 24/7/2021 at around 6.30 am, the inhabitants of Owerre Ebeiri in Orlu caught in the act, three armed robbers while they were robbing certain traders not yet identified.
“They are believed to be the ones terrorizing the community by using an unmarked motorbike to rob innocent people, especially traders along Owerri Orlu Road in Imo State.
“The thieves were beaten, tied up and set on fire before the police patrol team arrived at the scene. Efforts to arrest the perpetrators were unsuccessful as they all fled when they saw the police patrol team. ”
Imo State Command Police Commissioner CP Abutu Yaro, FDC, while condemning the barbaric act, advised members of the public and communities to always hand suspects over to the police for investigation. and proper prosecution instead of taking control of the law. .
“He then set up a team of investigators from the State’s Criminal Investigations Department of the command to investigate the cause and possible ways to prevent future mob actions in the state,” CP said.
