Three people died in an accident on the Kumasi-Obuasi road in the Ashanti region.
Ten other people are believed to have suffered varying degrees of injuries in the crash, which occurred on Friday after a Toyota Tundra vehicle collided with a taxi at Afoaka Junction.
According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota Tundra vehicle registration AS 4275-21 also crashed into two other utility vehicles parked on the shoulders of the road with passengers on board after colliding with the taxi.
The taxi driver and a passenger of the commercial vehicles died instantly. Another passenger also died on arrival at St. Peter’s Catholic Hospital.
A doctor at Saint-Pierre Catholic Hospital, Dr Adai Aboagye, said two people have died while three others are currently being admitted.
“We made 5 victims, and of that number, we have two deaths. One person died instantly and was therefore brought back dead.
“The other person, a woman over 60, also died in the emergency room. The other victims are fairly stable and they are being watched. “
Other injured people may have been sent to surrounding health facilities, he said, but he cannot confirm the numbers.
A deceased woman and man were sent to the morgue.
Meanwhile, Jacobu police confirmed three dead and ten injured.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited in the morgue, awaiting an autopsy.
