The speed of the precipitating rain water has resulted in the tricycle and its three users in the river
The bodies of three people were recovered from the Yakonda River in Bole District, Northern Region, as a result of a downpour in the area over the weekend.
Officials from the district's National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) said the dead, boys, had drowned in the waters of the Kibilma community.
NADMO district director Sulemana Kipo, who confirmed the incident at Citi News, said that the dead people were drowned when they tried to cross a tricycle by crossing a bridge washed away by flooding.
The speed of the precipitating rain water resulted in the tricycle and its three users in the river.
A research team comprising representatives of NADMO was formed and the three bodies were found several hours later.
Heavy rains in the area had also cut Kibilma from several other villages in the district.
He noted that NADMO is still badessing the extent of the damage, but has sent an official report to NADMO headquarters in Accra for information on how to handle the situation.
Sulemana Kipo complains that his office does not have sufficient resources to provide relief items to the affected households, but said: "We get insurance" from Accra that they will receive resources to support those affected in the district.
"The bodies of the three people who were found in different places were sent to Dakurpe and a report was presented to the Bole police," added the director of NADMO.
