3 KNUST students die in 2 separate accidents

Three students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) died after two separate accidents at the school on Saturday March 27, 2021.

Confirming the incident on KNUST’s Head of Academic Relations, JoyNews Prime, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe said the first incident happened when a car with five students hit a tree around 3 a.m.

Two of the students died on the spot while one is in critical condition. The other two are in stable condition and are receiving treatment at Komfo Anokye University Hospital.

“We learned of a car with about five occupants who are all students, one is a student at the University of Ghana and four of them are students of KNUST. They crashed into a tree by the side of the road around 3 a.m. Two of them lost their lives, one is in critical condition at Komfo Anokye University Hospital and two other occupants are in stable condition and responding to treatment, ”said Dr Bekoe.

The cause of the crash is not easily known, but the head of university relations said police have opened an investigation into the incident.

In the other accident on campus, a student accidentally fell in Unity Hall.

The student reportedly went to visit a friend when he collapsed, fell down the stairs to the first floor and banged his head against the wall. He was rushed to hospital and abandoned the ghost.

“Around 11 am we learned of another incident where a level 100 student went to Unity Hall to visit a friend and while they were having a conversation I think he passed out. and fell down the stairs to the first floor and then hit his head against the wall. He was rushed to Komfo Anokye University Hospital. The doctors tried everything they could but unfortunately we lost it, ”URO told Gifty Andoh Appiah.

Dr Norris Bekoe said the families of the deceased have been made aware of the tragic events. He said the University is saddened by the incidents and wished the bereaved families the guidance of God in these difficult times.

The KNUST students, however, have expressed their shock at the incident and pray that the other students on treatment will recover.
