The Eastern Region Security Council (REGSEC), led by the East Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfuor, and the Eastern Region Police Commander, COP Alphonse Adu Amankwah, have taken over. Assault the troubled municipality of Lower Manya Krobo as a result of spontaneous murderous riots in the area, triggered by a Power Disconnect exercise. Distribution Services (PDS).

REGSEC first held a meeting with MUSEC, chaired by Bas Manya Krobo's chief executive, Simon Kwaku Tetteh, before going to the palace of Manya Krobo's supreme leader, Nene Sakitey II.

He was accompanied by a PDS delegation from the Manya Krobo region.

In the meantime, the Manya Krobo District Assembly canceled its scheduled meeting despite the arrival of some members of the Assembly.

About 35 suspects were arrested during Wednesday's bloody riot.

The youth organized a spontaneous protest to petition Kwaku Simon Tetteh, regional general manager for the region, about their concerns about PDS billing and its ongoing mbad disconnection exercise.

Earlier Wednesday morning, the youths set up roadblocks and attacked PDS personnel with stones and sticks at Yohe, a community near Odumase Krobo, when PDS personnel went to the community to end its mbad disconnection exercise.

Angry kids broke a Nissan Pick Up PDS with registration number GV 2318-1. It took the intervention of armed police to rescue the PDS personnel.

PDS staff decided to turn off the transformer by cutting power to the entire area.

Shortly after the attack, angry youth mobilized to hold a protest to petition the MCE, but armed police eagerly protected the Municipal Assembly's office. by preventing young people from entering the premises.

This led to clashes between the youth and the police. Numerous warnings have been issued to disperse young people who are also attacking the police with stones and other instruments.

Three people were injured after a similar chaos Monday in Manya Kpongunor following a mbad disconnection exercise led by Power Distribution Services (PDS).

Reports indicated that the police building team fired tear gas after being attacked by the youths.

The PDS is embarking on a mbad disconnection exercise with armed police in Somanya, Odumase Krobo and surrounding areas.

The exercise called "revenue mobilization" according to the Somans District PDS Director, Ing. Edward Ochire has become necessary due to the fact that many residents have not paid their electricity bills since 2017. According to him, this situation has resulted in a decline in the company's revenues.

Hundreds of homes were disconnected during the current fiscal year that began on May 13, 2019 in the communities of Kpong and Nuaso.

A person was put behind bars for trying to resist the disconnection of his house. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, many affected residents have gone to PDS offices to pay their accumulated bills, which amounted to between 3,000 and 20,000 Ghc.

There has long been a quarrel between residents and workers of the ECG, which has become PDS. In 2017, angry residents of Somanya attacked the PDS office for excessive billing.

Police vehicles were burned and property destroyed during violent attacks. Since then, many residents have refused to pay their electricity bills and threatened to attack PDS staff who were trying to unplug their homes.
