Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente started a nightmarish shift to replace Harry Kane in the starting lineup.
The experienced Spanish coach was summoned by his coach Mauricio Pochettino to prepare for the Spurs during their clash in the Premier League in Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Questions had been asked during the week before the match on the intensification in the absence of Kane, who suffered a spell after being injured at the ankle.
It had been suggested that Dele Alli or Lucas Moura could be deployed in a more advanced role, but Llorente was approved by his manager.
After just 17 minutes of play for his first start to the Premier League season, the 33-year-old hit the back of the net on the wrong side to give quick advantage to relegation fighters Fulham.
The striker was taken by surprise to defend a corner and could only watch, helpless, the ball hit his right leg and roll inside.
Football fans have been quick to use social media to react to Llorente's first "goal" in the Premier League of the season.
Spurs fans quickly showed their sympathy for the Spaniard.
But fans of rival clubs had to make fun of Tottenham and the Spaniard.
