3rd day of strike at Paris airport, no flight delay reported

A first wave of holiday departures began this weekend as up to 200 Paris airport employees demonstrated against wage cuts. After a first interruption of flights during the first two days of the strike, no significant flight delay was reported this Saturday.

Holidaymakers on July 1 would have taken off without a problem this Saturday, despite a strike against wage cuts for employees of the Aéroports de Paris group (ADP), which operates the Paris airports of Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly, continuing on its third day, after the flight delays the day before.

This Saturday morning, a hundred employees marched in the parking lots of terminal 2E at Roissy Charles De Gaulle, to the sound of a fanfare.

They were waiting to be joined by a hundred demonstrators gathered elsewhere.

However, several of the demonstrators were fined by the police for “obstructing the operation of the airport” and “unjustified presence at the airport”, following a prefectural order.

They were fined € 135.

Negotiations will resume on Monday

Three unions – Unsa, CGT and CFE-CGC – demand that collective action continue until Monday to obtain the withdrawal of a plan to adapt employment contracts (PACT), which provides for a reduction or elimination of bonuses.

If they refuse to register on site, employees risk being made redundant.

According to a protester, the members of the management “make us seem privileged. I have a base salary of 1,680 €, so the bonuses are our salary”. He claims he will lose up to 300 euros per month.

In Orly, negotiations between management and the unions have been suspended and are due to resume on Monday.

On the French rail network side, travelers had feared disruptions in train travel at the start of the week but the three main railway unions lifted their strike notice for July 3 and 4 after an agreement with Ouigo management.

The unions had filed several strike notices to demand more “recognition” of employees and denounced “the deterioration of working conditions” on the low-cost service Ouigo TGV.
