A house filled with barrels of premixed fuel exploded in Kormantine in the central region, killing four people and leaving three people in critical condition at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
Victims who suffered severe burns were taken to the hospital for medical care.
The victims, including the dead, were sleeping at the time of the premixed fuel explosion, without knowing what could have triggered the blast.
According to reports, the premixed fuel is mainly kept in the house by fishermen for their fishing activities.
While the fishermen were trying to get some of the premixed fuel out of one of the rooms, one of the tenants also set fire to the room and caught fire.
The fire could have spread to neighboring homes without the intervention of officials from the Ghana National Fire Service.
