The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has revealed that four of its members have died from Covid-19.

According to the Association, many more are now fighting for their lives in healthcare facilities across the country.

Association secretary general David Tekorang Twum revealed that another member died a few days ago in the Haut-Est region.

“We lost four, just three days ago, we lost another young man in Kasona district, in the Haut-Est region.

The group therefore called on the government to urgently procure and distribute PPE to its members in order to improve their safety and that of other health professionals.

“We don’t need to wait for it to overwhelm once we know that (PPE) is the only weapon we have as nurses and midwives, so what we’re asking the government to do is c ‘is to provide us with the logistics we need to be able to treat outside the virus, ”Twum said.

Considering that there are already imported cases of the new variant of the virus in Ghana, the group wants the government to restore the measures that worked for the country in the first and second quarters of 2020.
