Forty-one (41) presidential staff members were fired from government headquarters as a result of a complaint from Ghanaians when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo released his first list of staff working with him in 2017.

The figure was reduced from 998 to 957, indicating that 41 people were no longer working at government headquarters in December 2018.

The most recent list includes 10 state ministers to the presidency, 28 presidential staff and 254 other appointees to lower political positions, bringing the total number of appointees to political office to 292.

The publication of the list is in accordance with Article 11 of the President's Office Act, 1993 (Law 463), which requires the President to submit an annual report to Parliament on the staffing of the President's Office.

In 2017, the distribution was as follows: nine state ministers, 27 presidential staff, 256 other appointees / junior positions and 706 civil servants / civil servants.
