The Government of Ghana has signed an agreement with the Czech Republic for the construction of 50 new steel bridges across the country.
With an amount of more than 47 million euros, these fifty bridges will be built in selected communities in the 16 regions of Ghana.
"The Government of Ghana is about to begin construction of 50 steel bridges in some communities of the country, following the signing of a credit agreement with the Czech Republic.
"There is a 47.5 million euro credit facility between the Government of Ghana and the Czech Republic."
As part of the infrastructure works of Akufo-Addo Administration, the Minister of Roads and Highways Kwesi Amoako Atta signed this agreement on behalf of President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Ambbadador of the Czech Republic on behalf of the Czech Government.
According to Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who spoke at a press conference on Wednesday, the project concerns the design, supply and installation of small steel components. and medium size for the construction of new bridges and the replacement of some existing bridges and pedestrian bridges.
"The feeder road department will have 20 of these bridges, the highway authority of Ghana will have 20 for the main highways and the urban roads department will have 10 for some urban road links," he said. declared.
He further noted that the project should be completed within 24 months of its launch. And this project should remove traffic jams when crossing the river and improve the movement of people and goods in the country.
"It is expected that at the end of the project, all year round, access to these facilities will be provided to eliminate any disruption, which should increase economic activity and the income of residents. people living in these areas, "he said.
