Lady Godfred, Deputy Attorney General, revealed that more lawyers had been hired for the Attorney General's office.

The aim is to strengthen the current staff and improve performance, to make the Office more vibrating and help in the dispensation of justice.

"For a long time, no new prosecutors were recruited from the Attorney General's office. Significantly this year, 50 lawyers were recruited from the Attorney General's office.

"They received their letter of appointment barely a month ago and it is a very important step to strengthen the Attorney General's office," added Mr. Dame.

He was speaking at the Joy FM Scorecard program in Accra on Monday. The program aimed to evaluate the 23 months of administration led by Akufo-Addo since taking office.

Earlier this year, the Attorney General's Office had received approval to employ more staff after Attorney General Gloria Akuffo complained about the lack of adequate staff.

She added that the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General's department needed 600 employees to function well, but that it only had 300, which was a challenge to its operation.

She added that her ministry had advocated for the hiring of additional staff, but that the Ministry of Finance had given the green light to recruit only 50 people, an additional 200 people.

This recruitment, says Mr. Dame, took place.
