500,000 people watched the second stage of the Tour de France in Brussels

Around 500,000 people attended this year's Tour de France time trial stage in Brussels on Sunday afternoon.

They were also present to participate in the festivities organized around the event. Brussels-Ixelles police said they waited for around 500,000 people.

The public gathered en mbade to enjoy the festivities at Fan Park and attend the team time trial phase, which started at Palace Square and finished at the Atomium.

This year's Tour de France started in Brussels as a tribute to Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx.

The first leg of the Tour, which took place on Saturday, started in the center of Brussels and ended in front of the Royal Castle in Laeken.

The second stage, a time trial, took place on Sunday afternoon and crossed the city center.
