53 confirmed cases of measles in southern Washington State
Fifty-one cases are children
Health officials in southern Washington state confirmed they had confirmed 53 cases of measles.
Colombian authorities report that Clark County public health officials have identified a new case since last week and that a previously confirmed case had been ruled out of any further testing.
According to officials, 47 of the 53 confirmed cases are people who have not been immunized against the highly contagious virus.
Vaccination statuses could not be verified in five of the cases. One case involved a child who received a single dose of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.
Fifty-one cases involve children aged 18 and under. The other two are adults.
In addition to the 53 cases, one was confirmed in the Seattle area and four in Portland, Oregon, just south of Clark County.
