Officers from the South African Police Command caught six people on suspicion of theft.
These unscrupulous personalities were arrested after being found to be involved in the theft of certain cell phone batteries.
This was confirmed in a police statement which reads:

Shortly after 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday April 28, 2021, Moorreesburg Police officials were contacted by a complainant who is a member of the local farm watchdog that an alarm had gone off in the Neulfontein Farm Moorreesburg area. The complainant said he noticed in the CCTV footage that suspects were busy stealing the batteries from the cell phone tower.
Police officers and members of the farm watch went to the N7 and were informed of the whereabouts of the suspects by another member of the farm watch.
The suspects took the N7 road where a vehicle stopped and the suspects got in the vehicle and proceeded to the R311 road towards Riebeeck West.
Their vehicle was stopped and searched and members found five red Vodacom tower batteries worth approximately R125,000 each. Further searches of the area led police to find a hammer, bolt cutter and crowbar at the tower.
Six suspects aged 28 to 37 were arrested for tampering with, damaging and / or destroying critical infrastructure.
They are due to appear in Moorreesburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 3, 2021 on the charges mentioned. “
