New York Comic Con has made a comeback.

After being canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the four-day event will run through Sunday and be held at the Javits Center in New York City. The convention is dedicated to comics, graphic novels, cartoons, manga, video games, cosplay, films and television and was first held in 2006.

This year’s featured guests include Strange things star David Harbor, Star Trek‘s George Takei, actor Hayden Christensen, former WWE Champion John Cena, Lovecraft CountryJurnee Smollett and rapper Pharoahe Monch.

In addition to the panels, discussions and get-togethers, this year’s New York Comic Con also featured a new cosplay event.

The EuroCosplay Championships and Cosplay Crown Championships have joined forces to create the Central Cosplay Crown Championships, with a world winner nominated at MCM London Comic Con in October 2022.

Contest entrants could choose between recreating a character design that will be judged for its accuracy, or creating their own design based on a recognizable pop culture character and being judged on the design and interpretation of their given starting point. .

New York Comic Con also required event attendees aged 12 or older to need proof of full vaccination or, if under 12, proof of a PCR test. negative to participate. A mandatory face covering was also required, even for those in cosplay, unless they were eating or drinking.
