Residents and firefighters helped to transport the injured to the hospital
Seven people died at the time of an accident in Asitey on Saturday, June 15 in Manya Krobo municipality, in the lower part of Manya Krobo district.
The seven were parishioners of the Catholic Church Santa Barbara of Akosombo. They were returning from a funeral to Akim Oda.
Police reports indicate that drivers of the Daewoo vehicle carrying the registration number GV 2497-14 belonging to the Volta River Authority when descending the hill tack and landed in a valley in a sharp bend after a failure of the brakes.
The seven are three men and four women.
Thirteen adult women, having suffered several injuries, were rushed to the Atua government hospital and St Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital for medical treatment.
Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service and residents helped to transport the wounded to the hospital, despite the absence of ambulances affecting the situation.
The seven dead were dropped off at the morgue of Atua 's government hospital.
About 13 wounded were transported to Atua Gov't Hospital and St Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital.
