7 things to watch for in your pee – because they could be signs of cancer

In the United Kingdom, one in two people will have cancer at some point in their life, an absolutely terrifying statistic.

Although many types of vile diseases have few symptoms, others have signs that can help identify them as quickly as possible.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. The causes are unknown, but the chances of developing it increase with age.

It develops slowly and many men do not see any symptoms for years.

This is only when the prostate becomes big enough to touch the tube that carries urine out of the bladder and penis as some of the telltale signs begin to appear.

Catching early can make a huge difference

According to the NHS, there are seven things that all men should check at any time, which could be a tell-tale sign of the disease.

They are:

  • Need to pee more often, often during the night
  • Need to rush to the toilet
  • Difficulty starting to pee (hesitation)
  • Getting tired or taking a lot of time while peeing
  • Low flow
  • Feel that your bladder has not completely emptied
  • Blood in the urine or sperm

There are a number of tests that can help diagnose prostate cancer, which your doctor should be able to arrange.

This is a blood test, a physical examination of the prostate and an MRI or biopsy.

If the disease is detected early, it can be treated by radiotherapy or surgery.

However, if it's not caught before, it can spread to other parts of the body.

Experts do not know why, but prostate cancer is more common among men of Afro-Caribbean or African descent and Asian men are less likely to be affected.
