President Akufo Addo UDS President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The executive director of the Danquah Institute, Edward Asomani, said that the Akufo-Addo government had built 70 new factories under the promise of a district, a factory since its entry into function.

Unable to name the plants and their exact locations, Asomani said the factories had recruited many unemployed Ghanaians.

"The NPP government inherited a bad economy and we found that we could not build a strong economy based on aid and donor loans. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the nuclear plant is going in the right direction for things to go well.

"We can not continue to produce raw materials as a country and think we will go anywhere. We have 70 factories in operation. They are running and I know that a lot of Ghanaians have been employed in the area. There is much to be done and much has been accomplished with this government. Let's be patient with the government, "he told Starr Thursday morning.

President Akufo-Addo then promised to create at least one factory in the 275 constituencies of the country. The promise was widely accepted by Ghanaians who participated in the party's victory over the NDC and then President John Mahama in the 2016 elections.

The government has however struggled to prove to critics that it has actually been able to create these companies. In many cases, the government has renovated and adopted existing businesses under this program.
