Nine people were arrested following further clashes between two rival factions of the Teshie Traditional Council.

Talk to JoyNews, The PRO deputy for the Greater Accra region, Chief Inspector Kwabena Danso, said the suspects are in custody, helping with investigations.

“Their identity, I can’t speak much about it, but during the investigation it will be clear for us to know the mastermind behind the attack. We understand that they were in hiding, but we had them arrested.” , did he declare.

The development comes after Teshie Wulomo’s palace, Nuumo Badu Odaanor Odiapenser I, was attacked by gunmen who set two other houses on fire on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

John Adjetey, who speaks on behalf of the Wulomo, recounted what happened.

“There was a misunderstanding between the factions. One faction stood at the Council of Elders in Teshie and other members of that faction also responded with gunfire, injuring a person in the leg.

“Because one person from the Teshie Mantse Palace group was shot in the leg, that group returned to regroup and came back to the Teshie Wulomo shrine to burn the place down. But they were pushed back and they started setting fire to two funeral homes, ”he said.

Another eyewitness also testified about the incident.

“We were sitting here eating, two of us, when armed men invaded the place. They came from behind the house. There were around four of them when one, known as Ataa, ordered the others to shoot. So I walked away with my brother from the scene.

“Then they moved the tires there and started to burn. Honestly, if I had had a gun I would have fired, but I didn’t have one, ”he said.

In 2019, the legitimacy of the Wulomo was challenged in the courts. The case remains to be determined. However, legal proceedings did not prevent these clashes.

The residents of the neighborhood have expressed their concerns about this. They are concerned about the possibility of retaliation. They want the police to pursue all arrested suspects to deter others.

“The only thing we want to say is that this city doesn’t belong to anyone. We’ve all moved here, but about two or three people act like it’s theirs, ”said one resident.

Meanwhile, the police have called for calm among the residents as they have the situation under control.

“There is a large police deployment to provide security, so I urge residents to remain calm; the police are in control. The police are also in talks with the leaders of the two factions to call their people to order.
