The Nigerian actor, IK Ogbonna
The Nigerian actor IK Ogbonna claimed that many couples are unhappy in their marriage but have refused to open for reasons better known to them.
"90% of marriages are unhappy and have fake smiles and pretend to be happy when depression is the case," he said in a post on Instagram on Wednesday.
Ogbonna, reportedly separated from his Colombian wife Sonia Morales, has however urged young couples to make efforts to make their marriages work.
According to him, unlike dating, when one gets married, they are totally attached to their spouse and should make sure that their union lasts even when they are unhappy.
"Marriage can not be treated as a romantic relationship. You can not just leave because you are no longer 'happy', "he says.
"We must first remember that you have married a friend, a support system, not an enemy or a competition. You are now one. And since you chose this person from a global population of more than 7 billion people, your job is to always protect it and make each other happy. "
