Volta River Authority public relations manager David Prah has revealed that it will take up to 3 years to complete the $ 993 million Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project.

It comes after the project was originally slated to be completed in 15 months after a lawn was cut in an attempt to prevent water spills from the Bagré dam, located in Burkina Faso.

Although President Akufo-Addo has previously promised residents that the project will be completed on time, they have highlighted concerns of impending displacement due to ongoing flooding in the Upper East and Northeast regions.

Providing some clarification on the project’s completion schedule, David Prah said the estimated period announced by President Akufo-Addo was to prepare the site for actual construction which will begin in November 2021 and will take three years.

“The president was not saying that in 15 months the project would be completed. The chairman was talking about all the processes that we have to go through before the dam is built, because you are talking about 11,000 hectares of land. “

“We start the actual construction of the land between November and December of this year. The actual construction of the land will take around three years, ”Prah said.
