Former film producer Harvey Weinstein and the board members of his former studio reached an agreement in principle with women who accuse him of badual misconduct, media reports said US.

Lawyers said the settlement to resolve civil suits and compensate alleged victims was worth about $ 44 million (£ 34.7 million).

Mr. Weinstein denies having harbaded or badually abused more than 75 women.

He will go on trial in New York in June for criminal charges brought by two women, including rape.

Adam Harris, the studio's co-founder's lawyer, Bob Weinstein, told a judge that an "agreement in economic principle" had been concluded, reports the Associated Press news agency.

He added: "I am personally very optimistic".

Mr. Weinstein's team later told The Wall Street Journal that the size of the settlement would be about $ 44 million.

Aged 67, one of Hollywood's most famous producers and has participated in numerous Oscar-winning films, including Shakespeare in Love, The King's Speech and The Artist.

The charges against Mr. Weinstein led to the #MeToo movement, which saw hundreds of women blame prominent men in the business, government, and badual abuse and harbadment entertainment communities.

As the charges escalated, his Weinstein Co. dismissed him and declared bankruptcy.
