Arsenal will participate in its first European final for more than a decade, but its former manager, Arsene Wenger, will not be present to see how Unai Emery's team will face Chelsea.
Instead, the Frenchman will be at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium to watch the Gunners' bitter rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, face Liverpool in the Champions League final three days later.
But there is a reason for his absence.
The legendary French has previous commitments and, in the purest Wenger style, he does not plan to break his promise.
"How am I going to look at him [the Europa League final]? On TV, "he told talkSPORT. I will not be in Baku because I have commitments that I have accepted and that I will have to respect.
"So I'm going to watch this on TV and I'll be in Madrid for the grand finale."
It's been a full year that Wenger said goodbye to English football after more than two decades at the helm of the North London team and that he revealed what he had learned during his free time.
"I liked it a lot, I do different things, with less intensity," he said. football.londres. "But I have a better perspective of what's going on.

Wenger is not the only one not to be in Baku for the final as it was revealed earlier in the week that Arsenal midfielder, Henrikh Mhkitaryan, had chosen not to travel because fears for his safety.
The 30-year-old was not available to the gunners when they faced Qarabag in the group stage earlier in the season, due to the fact that Azerbaijan banned Armenians from entering the country because of tensions between their neighboring rivals.
