Tamale, May 24, GNA – The High Court of Tamale
Thursday, two suspects were sentenced in the renewed conflict between Konkomba and Chokosi
to five years imprisonment for possession of firearms without legal authorization
authority.
Inmates, Lake Nanyon and Nablik Zakpali,
who were arrested during the conflict in Chereponi district were charged with
in possession of firearms without legal authorization and pleaded guilty to the
charge.
His Lord Richard Kogyapwa, who chaired
on the Tamale court, dismissed five others who pleaded not guilty to
the indictment, in custody to reappear on 07 June.
The eighth suspect is currently in the process of being admitted
at Tamale teaching hospital under the custody of the police.
Meanwhile, five other suspects arrested
earlier in relation to the conflict in the northern district of Chereponi
Eastern Region that were brought to justice on May 22, sent four more to
custody and another was released on bail.
It will be remembered that a resumption of the conflict
between the two ethnic groups broke out Saturday, and had until now claimed a
life while four others were injured, with several houses under construction
in fire.
A mixed police and military team
staff have been deployed in the area to maintain public order.
