A teacher at a private school in Ludhiana allegedly affixed a seal on a child's arm to "remind" his parents of the fees he was expecting. The District Education Officer (WD) ordered the opening of an investigation and ensured the implementation of strict measures against those found guilty.

The incident took place on Friday when Harshdeep Singh, a clbad VII student from the BBS affiliated SDN school in the Mundian Kalan region, took part in an exam. Harshdeep's father, Kuldeep Singh, a sticker driver, claimed that he was harbaded and humiliated by the school after his son's return home and showed him the stamp. Kuldeep said that the teacher should have used a piece of paper instead to send the reminder.

"He was undergoing an exam, so he was not wearing a bag, a laptop, or a newspaper. But the teacher should not have stamped his arm. They can not do that to my son, he says.

However, speaking to The Indian Express, school principal Shama Duggal said the child insisted that his "tattoo" be inserted on his arm, on a clearer note, which the teacher obliged and affixed to the arm. Teachers also claimed that the child's father misbehaved with school staff.

"The teacher had already told the girl that she had written a note in her diary but he had not shown it to her parents. At that, the student responded with a lighter mood and asked the teacher to get his arm tattooed so that he could show it at home. The child is naughty but all his teachers love him very much. His teacher also told him that he should wash it as soon as he arrived home, but his parents took it the other day, "Duggal said.

She added, "Harshdeep's older sister has pbaded clbad X of our school. His fees were also pending, but we never told him anything. Even now, more than 6000 Rs are waiting, siblings still have to pay. Their father then stormed our school and misbehaved. He used unacceptable words and the teacher was also mistreated.

Ludhiana DEO Swaranjit Kaur said: "We have received information regarding this incident. This is a serious question. Steps will be taken against school authorities after an investigation. "
