MOSCOW, May 27 (Xinhua) – A man with a knife on Monday attacked the staff of the Rodina newspaper in the Stavropol city in southwestern Russia, wounding four people, said the governor of the Stavropol region, Vladimir Vladimirov.

"Now, the attacker has been arrested and the police are taking all necessary measures, I am convinced that the forces of order will quickly settle all the motives and all the circumstances and that justice will determine the punishment", Vladimirov said on Instagram.

He said that two of the wounded had left the hospital, while the lives of two others had not been threatened.

One of the wounded, Rodina newspaper editor Nikolai Bondarenko, told a local TV channel that the attacker had entered the newsroom and asked the newspaper to publish a "scandalous" article.

When Bondarenko refused, the man took out a knife and wounded him, along with three other people present.

"I realized that I was facing a mad man, but I did not expect him to do what he did," Bondarenko said. Enditem
