Manchester United will face Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the selection of Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports in Holland.
De Ligt is certain to leave the semi-finalists of the Champions League, Ajax, this summer after a magnificent season.
The 19-year-old defender is expected to leave the Amsterdam squad after leading them to a double league and a Dutch cup, but his future remains to be decided.
Barcelona was leading the race but, with tight finances at Camp Nou, it is not the intention to reach an agreement on the terms of the agent of the central defender, Mino Raiola.
Now, United is looking to attract the Dutch international. Barcelona refused to pay Raiola £ 12 million to finance the move.
However, it is not clear that he will arrive at Old Trafford, PSG also showing interest.
According to De Telegraaf, PSG is willing to reach the valuation of Ajax for an amount of 75 million pounds sterling and is also happy to pay the commission requested by Raiola.
De Ligt had previously claimed that he would only play in a team in the Champions League, but when asked if it was possible to join the men of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he remained shy.
"I've read reports on Manchester United," De Ligt told FOX Sports.
"I saw the salary I would receive too. Do you want to take it? People should take these relationships with a grain of salt. The stories are funny though.
"Everyone is talking about my future for a year now. One day I will go there and the next day I will go elsewhere.
"I went to Europe, did not I? I focus on the League of Nations and then see what happens. "
