Hidden in Black Spire Outpost on the Batuu Planet (actually Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim, California), you'll find an infamous ship parked in the local harbor: the Millennium Falcon. And yes, to see him in person is incredible.
This life-size reconstruction of the iconic ship is so much bigger than I expected. There is a real difference between seeing it in the movies and seeing it right in front of you. It's a really cool show and I'm sure tons of people will take pictures with it. But it's not just an opportunity to take pictures. It is also the entrance to Millennium Falcon: The smuggler's race attraction. The queue of the trip makes you go around the boat: you will see it from behind, from above, and even from within. And then you have to drive it.

The background story
The story so far: Chewbacca brought the Falcon to Black Spire Outpost for repair in this spaceport located on the outskirts of the galaxy after the events of The last Jedi. In exchange for essential spare parts, Chewie lends the Falcon to Hondo Ohnaka, a smuggler that fans know of Star Wars: The clone war and Star Wars Rebels. For those who have not watched the animated TV series, Hondo is a Weequay hacker looking for the next big score. Hondo comes alive with a wonderful animatronic figure, one of the best creations of Walt Disney Imagineering. They even consulted Wars of clones/The rebels Showrunner Dave Filoni brought the animated character to life in this attraction.
When we find Hondo in Batuu, he now runs a "legitimate business" of the spaceport called Ohnaka Transport Solutions. He has more cargo than he can handle and needs additional flight crews to perform some raids in his place. Naturally, he is looking for crews who will not ask too many questions. That's where we come in.
A dream come true
After crossing the long queue that takes you through the Hondo space garage, we board the Millennium Falcon and spend some time in the ship's main hold. You can sit at the famous table Dejarik (holochesses) or venture into space, explore every nook and cranny. Just do not press the buttons that you are not supposed to! There are many Easter eggs to find here. For example, training Luke Skywalker remotely since New hope is sitting with the helmet in one of the berths.
Entering the main hold for the first time, I tore. It's the closest we'll ever be Actually to be in the world of Star wars and be on board this ship. I wonder if guests will have the impression that they have enough time to explore and take pictures in this area before their group is called to go on a mission, especially in the badpit. The ride itself
The park guests are separated into groups of six and are randomly badigned one of three roles to carry out their mission. From what I can say, you can not ask to be the pilot, but you can exchange seats with members of your own crew, if they wish. The attraction itself is a motion simulator with real interaction between the driver and the driver. Here are the roles you can play.
drivers: The pilot on the left controls the horizontal movement of the flight, while the pilot on the right controls the vertical movement and the speed lever of the light. If the Falcon suffers damage – such as enemy hitting or shooting – and it is not repaired properly, the handling of the ship is affected.
gunners: This position uses cannons on each side of the ship to defend the Falcon and the cargo it acquires during this mission. There is an automatic tuning for beginners and a manual tuning that makes the game more video.
Flight Engineers: The mission of the engineers is to prevent the Falcon from collapsing during its mission. You do this by basically pressing any button that turns on. The more damage your drivers suffer, the more demanding your job is. It is also your responsibility to take care of the "special changes" that Hondo has set up for these unusual missions.
Initial thoughts
At the time of writing these lines, I only had the chance to fly the Falcon and it was very entertaining. I imagine that the gunner's role would also be fun, but I'm skeptical about the role of engineer being so exciting, because you'll be so far from the badpit window (l & # 39; screen) to see a lot and spend most of your time. by pressing the buttons on the side panels to watch and enjoy the action. I would say that this trip is more like a video game than a standard motion simulator and will probably be more fun with a group of six friends than a random group of strangers, especially since the ride encourages you to communicate with (AKA screams to) the other as the intensity of the mission heats up.
The ride is a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Industrial Light and Magic and the day I took a job for Hondo, only one mission was available. However, I guess more missions (levels) will be added over time. At the end of the mission, Hondo informs customers about how they achieved their goals and credits them … after taking his cut and subtracting the damage. I still do not know very well what you can do with your credits, but I guess it connects to your datapad (the AKA Disney Play app on your phone) and lets you buy digital badets .
A nice gesture: if your mission goes wrong, when leaving the ship, you will notice that the corridors of the Falcon show the damage caused by your disastrous flight. Yeah, you'll want to use this one more than once.
