Kwabena Adu Darko-Asare, 13, a student at DPS International in Ghana, came to the United States to represent Ghana at the 92nd edition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Kwabena Adu Darko-Asare, a young Ghanaian word, arrived in the United States to participate in the 92nd edition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
He is the only African to participate in this year's event. Kwabena won the 2019 National Spelling Bee in Ghana, succeeding 2018 National Champion Shifa Amankwa-Gabbey. Yoofi Baah, of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, was the first finalist and Jeremy Agyei Baafour-Agyei, also of DPS International Ghana, was second.
Kwabena Adu is automatically qualified to participate in the United States after winning first place in Ghana.
The 13-year-old national champion arrived in the United States to participate in the 92nd edition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It will compete with 564 other spellings of several countries.
Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah, Ambbadador of Ghana to the United States of America, went to Kwabena Adu Darko-Asare to welcome him to the United States.
Kwabena Adu Darko-Asare was accompanied by Salomé Dzakpasu, program coordinator, and Emmanuel Afful, badistant national coach of The Spelling Bee.
