Details are emerging about how two motorcycle-armed robbers killed a money exchange operator in Dawhenya, Tema, and kidnapped him an amount of 600,000 GH ¢ that he had borrowed from friends.

DAILY GUIDE realized that the gunmen had fired at the foreign exchange bureau operator known as Alhaji Osman Jadad, aka Alhaji Sita, and his friend in a car. Both were transported to the hospital, but the exchange bureau operator died on his arrival.

His friend, who was shot in the chest by the attackers, survived the attack. The body of the deceased was deposited at the morgue of the 37th Accra Military Hospital awaiting an autopsy.

Confirming the incident, Issah Mohammed Contona, Prampram District Police Chief, Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP), told DAILY GUIDE that the deceased had received a call from a client who wanted to turn 80 USD 000 in cedis.

According to DSP Contona, the deceased quickly contacted friends, including a casino operator, who had reserved for him the equivalent in cedi dollars.

He added that the supposed client had asked the deceased to meet him in Dawhenya with the money, adding that Alhaji Sita and three people, who had helped mobilize money for him, had been taken in an ambush while they were traveling to town.

"His friends, who brought the money, were reluctant to deal with the alleged client outside the exchange office, but he managed to convince them that they would take a police escort at the police station of Dawhenya because of the huge amount of money they were carrying. They agreed to follow him to meet the customer in order to recover the dollar equivalent in order to be able to return to Accra. " , did he declare.

However, he said that, for some strange reason, the deceased had pbaded the police station without getting the escort, to be attacked a few meters away.

"As soon as they pbaded the police station, armed robbers hit; they shot two people in the car, including the exchange bureau operator, and ordered the two people in the back seat to give them money in two bags and left, "a- he explained.

DSP Contona added that no one was able to muster his courage to attack armed thieves, who shot indiscriminately, firing shots, adding that they had gone on a motorcycle with money.

He pointed out that the three people, who gave the money to the deceased, were arrested but were released on bail after interrogation. The police chief said investigations were under way to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice. He was buried yesterday at Achimota Cemetery.
