The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has organized a validation workshop day for young people on the Ghana National Voluntary Review (VNR) report on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODD).
The National Voluntary Review is an important process for tracking progress against the Sustainable Development Goals and refocusing our efforts on areas where we need to accelerate efforts.
Mr. Kenneth Owusu, Technical Advisor, NDPC, emphasized the need for every citizen to participate in achieving the goals by 2030.
He noted that no one should be left behind at both the local and national levels when discussing sustainable development goals.
"Young people play a vital role in achieving the 17 goals because they are the key element in the discourse through which they share and engage," he said.
Mr. Emmanuel Sin-Nyet Asigri, President and CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), said, "There is no benefit to saying that the NYA really believes in Ghana's youth, the NYA has integrated the SDGs in its programming. "

According to him, a global Youth Speak survey of 180,000 youth indicates that 68% think the world will be better by 2030, many Ghanaians in their communities are at the forefront of change and innovation and many have keen minds. make things happen.
"This forces us all to create the necessary opportunities to lift our youth out of poverty if they become a decent and sustainable work environment, so as to take advantage of the young population of the country."
UNICEF's Dr Yoshimi Nishino said it was important because it highlighted collective support for the voluntary national badessment process and commitment to internationally agreed sustainable development goals to help Ghana achieve its goals. aspirations for development.
"Ghana has risen to the challenge with energy and commitment since more than half of its population is made up of children and young people," she added, adding that to engage children and youth in Ghana at VNR, their collective voice and critical development needs must be taken into account to promote inclusive growth in achieving the SDGs.
