Former actor Hollyyaks Andy Newton Lee fell into a coma after collapsing behind the wheel of a car

Actor Andy Newton Lee was put into a coma after he collapsed driving his car, according to a "busy schedule".

The former Hollyoaks actor, Coronation Street and Casualty was found in his car near his home in Los Angeles and was diagnosed with pneumonia after admission to the hospital.

Hull Live reports that the 38-year-old actor, who plays the role of Robbie Flynn in Hollyoaks, had to return to the UK for his friend's funeral but was forgotten after a week of coma.

Andy was plunged into coma last Thursday, before being released from it on Wednesday and was accused of "burning the candle at both ends" as responsible for his illness.

He fell asleep in his car while he was watching the sea across the ocean and was found by a pbaderby who rang the alarm.

Andy blamed the busy schedule of recent weeks in which he flew up and down in the UK, as well as marathons and physical training.

Andy told Hull Live: "I had just slept at the edge of the ocean in my car, it's nice, it's like I was at the Humber Bridge, and it's My father was doing it.

"I have been really exhausted and stressed for a while with my company.I've caught a cold and flu, but I just thought I was exhausted.

"I did marathons, going to yoga and gym, coming back to London every two weeks and burning candle at both ends."

Andy paid tribute to the person who found him, saying that he would have died if he had not been helped.

He continued: "I woke up yesterday morning and felt very erratic, but I am much better today, the care here has been amazing and I feel very lucky.

"It's definitely an awakening for all those who have breathing problems."

The former actor is now facing a recovery "as long as string", but admits that he "can not wait to get home".
