Kofi Boakye Cop COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, Director General of Police for Research and Planning

The director general of the police in charge of research and planning, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, called for a strict enforcement of the highway code in the country in order to reduce the high level of indiscipline on the roads.

He added that such minor crimes were a long-term threat to national security and needed to be controlled.

At a meeting of the Association of Women Accountants of Ghana in Tamale, COP Boakye, speaking of "security threats and challenges and mitigation measures for security", described the perpetrators of traffic violations as " crazy, sick or criminal ".

"We have to start applying all the laws. How come people are jumping red lights and just pbading through. People who jump red lights are either crazy, sick or criminals who are fleeing crime. We need to find a way to deal with such people. If we can not fight small crimes, we can not fight big crimes. It's politics, "he said.

Recently, indiscipline and impunity on the roads have been topical, prompting national discussions on how to deal with the worrisome situation.

Citi FM and Citi TV launched the #WarAgainstIndiscipline campaign in May 2019 to help control all forms of undisciplined driving on the roads in order to avoid the increasing loss of life due to carnage on the roads due to Recklessness and general disregard for traffic rules.

The campaign also aims to alert regulators to ensure that the various road safety laws are enforced.

Since the beginning of the campaign, the station has received the endorsement of drivers, pbadengers and some state institutions.

The campaign continues on Citi FM, Citi TV, citinewsroom.com and the resort's social media platforms to draw attention to the nuisance caused by drivers and motorcyclists on Ghana's roads.

The general public is also encouraged to take videos and photos of the perpetrators of these offenses and to send them to the WhatsApp contact point of the official station – 0549986996 for transmission to the appropriate neighborhoods.
