How the takeover of Newcastle could affect Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and the Big Six

Newcastle may be on the verge of doing something huge.

They are the last Premier League team to potentially receive an influx of wealth, which could change the football club's landscape for years to come.

Mike Ashley agreed to resign after 12 years at the head of Tyneside and sell Newcastle to Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the modest sum of 350 million pounds sterling.

Sheikh Khaled, who had already tried to buy Liverpool for £ 2 billion, is a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi.

He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Gulf States and therefore has considerable financial influence.

Perhaps one of the most exciting facts from Newcastle fans' point of view is that Sheikh Khaled is also a distant relative of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.

The citizens were part of the Premier League team when Sheikh Mansour took office at the city stadium, then named Manchester City.

The money was immediately injected into the club, which managed to recruit Real Madrid striker Robinho for an incredible £ 32.5 million in 2008.

Manchester City had just finished the season in ninth and could not offer Brazilian football any Champions League nor the prospect of a serious charge for the title.

But the money is talking, and soon after, more quality players have followed suit.

There is no reason to believe that Newcastle will influence the transfer market in much the same way that Manchester City did 11 years ago, should the takeover take place.

But the betting markets are already up and taking note.

Newcastle, for example, is 25 years old to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer – a lower chance than Barcelona (40/1), Manchester United (66/1) and Bayern Munich (80/1).

Of course, the winner of the World Cup will not sign for the Tyneside club, but the mere fact that his name is linked to Newcastle shows the direction that could take the Pies.

In the current state of things, the Big Six play in a league different from the rest of the top English flight, but to secure a place among the first four is very competitive.

Manchester United and Arsenal have both missed the Champions League football this season and neither club will cherish the prospect of a new competition.

One of Sheikh Khaled's first works will be to attach a new contract to Rafa Benitez.

The manager of the Magpies has already proved that he was the best boss after his victory in the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.

With adequate funding, the Spaniard could certainly make Newcastle one of the top seven teams, if not later, perhaps one of the top four.

Numerous measures are already in place in Newcastle to facilitate the transition from the status of centerpiece to the Premier League fee. The club has a huge stadium, a proud history and enthusiasts.

If the recovery were to take place this summer, it should be interesting.

Benitez is not the kind of manager to go wild with a transfer budget, but he will definitely love the prospect of making some signatures.

There will not be much pressure to get too much results immediately, but give him time and there could be another Manchester City in the Premier League.

A team that can compete with Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, City and Tottenham for the best players in the world.

And a team that could compete for the Champions League football.
