Cheryl Tweedy told an old lover "that you only have this because I left you" in her provocative new single.

The pop star 's latest song, entitled Let You, was released at midnight and sees her blame an unknown partner for taking advantage of her.

The accompanying music video shows Cheryl chatting in the street with a man before dancing in a fur coat and miniskirt.

A few minutes before the release of the title, she wrote an emotional message to fans on Twitter.

She said, "You know what's crazy?" After all these years, it still cuts my head to the efforts you'll make to support you … idgi (I do not understand). "

Cheryl, 35, married Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and had a two-year relationship with Liam Payne, star of One Direction, with whom she shares the son Bear.

Speaking on the eve of the release of Let You, Cheryl said she was unhappy with the "controlling" behavior of men.

She confirmed that the lyrics of her last song were about relationship experiences, telling Fault magazine: "I made mistakes in relationships, I was with men who controlled, which made me unhappy, but I let him do it.

"That's what this song is about.

"You must recognize him and you must try not to let him reproduce."

Cheryl made her long awaited return to music last November with the release of the single Love Made Me Do It.

The song failed to rank in the top 10 of the British official charts, but peaked at 19.
