The vapors of the mosquito coil contain toxins that could be harmful
Sleeping overnight in a room with a lit mosquito coil is harmful and can lead to health problems, including acute or chronic respiratory illness.

As part of an awareness program to celebrate World Environment Day (WED) celebrated on June 6th of each year, Mr. Emmanuel Appoh, Head of the Quality Department of the United States, will be celebrating the World Environment Day (WED). Speaking of deaths caused by air pollution in Accra in 2015, he said that 2,000 people in Accra had lost their lives, while 20,000 had died in the country in 2017.
He noted that street peddlers were at high risk of contracting respiratory and cardiovascular diseases due to the constant inhalation of toxic fumes.
"This category of people experiences eye irritation, acute and chronic coughing. Vehicle vapors contain incomplete combustion of fuel and, when inhaled, can affect our heart and lungs, "he said.
On measures to reduce air pollution, he advised vehicle owners to conduct regular maintenance and purchase fuel from certified pumps to limit exhaust emissions.
Appoh called heavy, medium and light industrial operators to use modern equipment in their production line to reduce air pollution
In an effort to reduce emissions in order to protect people's health, he said the government had standard guidelines for motor vehicles, which would compare the levels of emissions.
He revealed that the standard that would soon be implemented would be used to inform drivers of the conditions of their vehicles and the measures prescribed to reduce emissions.
Appoh said the standard would cover all modes of transportation, with the exception of tractor and light rails.
