President Akufo-Addo is expected to commission the largest mixed fertilizer manufacturing plant under the government's "One District, One Factory" initiative by the end of June this year in Asuboi, Ayensuano District, Eastern Region.

Rev Foster Mawuli Benson, President and CEO of Glofert Limited, said the company, capable of producing 2,400 tonnes of fertilizer a day, has begun receiving orders from public institutions for the supply of products. to farmers all over the country.

Reverend Benson revealed when 70 officials from IFDC International visited Asuboi's blending plant to learn about his operations.

According to him, poor agronomic practices and poor fertilizer application have an impact on crop yields in the country.

"We are proposing tailor-made fertilizer or nutrient solutions to different farmers where we mix specific products and that's why you see this huge building here. By far, it is currently the largest fertilizer blending plant in Ghana. It mixes 24,000 metric tons a day. We invest because we think it's the best way forward, "he said.

When asked why they chose Asuboi, he said they wanted to provide farmers with more crop-friendly fertilizers.

He said that for the first time in Ghana, farmers will use different types of fertilizer depending on the crops that will be grown and the type of soil chosen for the crop.

Patrice Annequin, head of the IFDC delegation, said the team was pleased with the activities of Glofert Limited and expressed hope that the company would help the farmers to reap the benefits of their work for a long time.

The 70 delegates have been selected from 25 countries around the world.
