Asamoah Gyan was a local chef in Hohoe.
Black Stars captain Andre Ayew congratulated camp captain Asamoah Gyan on his stay in Hohoe.
Asamoah Gyan was installed as Ngoryifia-Doemenyotor of St. Francis College of Education and the Gbi Traditional Zone of Hohoe Municipality in the Volta Region, his title being translated as "Progressive Leader with Generous Heart".
The payment was a testament to Gyan's contribution to finding a lasting solution to the ever-present water crisis that plagued the College of Education.
The footballer, through his foundation, provided a $ 3,000 mechanized borehole to the St. Francis College of Education.
Speaking at a farewell dinner hosted by President Akufo Addo for the Black Stars at Jubilee House, Ayew said how proud the team was of Gyan's achievements.
"I spoke to Gyan and we are all happy for him. We now have a leader with us in the team, "he said.
The Black Stars are expected to leave the country to travel to Dubai on June 1, for pre-AFCON camping, where they will play two high-level international friendlies against Namibia and South Africa.
Ghana has been selected in Group F, where they will face Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau.
