Sir Philip Green accused of aggression in the United States

British retail mogul Sir Philip Green has been charged in the United States with four counts of badault for minor offenses.

The charges come after a fitness instructor in Arizona claimed that he had repeatedly touched her inappropriately.

The incidents, which Sir Philip previously denied, allegedly occurred at the Tucson Canyon Ranch Complex in 2016 and 2018.

The Pima County Prosecutor's Office stated that each charge was punishable by up to 30 days in jail.

Sir Philip could also face a fine of up to $ 500 (£ 400) and one year probation on each charge, said the prosecutor's office.

The complainant stated during an interview with the police that Sir Philip had been slapped.

Sir Philip is the president of the Arcadia group, which owns the Topshop, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge and Wallis High Street chains.

A spokesman for Sir Philip told The Daily Telegraph that the allegations were first reported in February: "All of this was the subject of an investigation by Canyon Ranch at the time ".

He added: "Nothing was found against Sir Philip and the case was closed.
