FREDERICTON – New Brunswick public health officials have released another potential exposure to the measles virus in the Saint John area.

Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province's Chief Medical Officer of Health, said one person with a confirmed case of measles had made several taxi trips on May 22, 24, 25 and 26.

According to her, every time the person used Vet's Taxi Ltd. in Saint John, and after each trip, other people using the same taxi could have been exposed to the virus for up to two hours.

The first symptoms of the virus may include fever, cough or tiny white spots in the mouth. Three to seven days later, a red rash appears, first on the face, then on the body, arms and legs.

Russell says anyone with symptoms should isolate themselves and call the 811 hotline to find out what to do.
