TOKYO (AP) – The lawyer of former Nissan president Carlos Ghosn has condemned the ban on his client seeing his wife bail condition while Mr. Ghosn is awaiting trial for financial misconduct.
A judge banned Ghosn from seeing his wife, Carole, including in the presence of lawyers, or talking to him on the phone. Prosecutors say the restriction is necessary to prevent the falsification of evidence.
The lawyer, Takashi Takano, said in a telephone interview on Saturday that the ban was unfair and cruel.
His previous appeal, dismissed by a district court and a court of appeal, was brought before the Supreme Court, which dismissed him last month.
Takano promised to continue filing new petitions. He says the next will be tabled in two or three weeks.
