The psychedelic rock pioneer and founder of Roky Erickson, an influential 13th floor elevator, pbaded away at the age of 71.

Like many other mid-to-late 1960s, the mandate of the 13th Floor Elevator was short but prolific, with the group writing four complete albums between their formation in 1965 and their dissolution in 1969. They were among the very first psychedelic rock bands.
After the breakup of the band, Erickson continued to make music, first under the Roky Erickson and the Aliens banner, and then became a solo artist, separating from Roky Erickson and Resurrectionists for a 1993 recording.
The name of the musician became a little more important in hard rock and metal circles in 2013 when Ghost chose to cover "If you have ghosts", a clbadic Erickson, on the If you have ghost EP.
