To encourage carpooling drivers to offer "green" rides, Lyft is offering drivers in Portland, Oregon, to charge their electric vehicles for free.

Beginning in July, drivers using rechargeable or fully electric hybrid vehicles on the Lyft platform will be able to use the Portland General Electric charging stations for free. There are currently five stations in the region, each capable of charging six vehicles at a time with four DC fast chargers and two Level 2 chargers.

Normally, the price starts at $ 3 for a two-hour Level 2 charging session (for a slower charge) and there is an unlimited charge option of $ 25 per month, but Lyft will give drivers free access to the juice. electric.

Earlier in 2019, Lyft had added "green mode" to cities like Portland and Seattle, giving runners the option of choosing an electric or hybrid car to support them. For more electric vehicles (EVs) to be available as an option, Lyft also offers drivers to rent an electric car. The Uber competitor also encourages electric vehicles for drivers, with an emphasis on non-existent fuel costs.

Thus, although Lyft executives have spoken out in favor of reducing the number of car owners, the remote monitoring service is also working on the cars its drivers are using and is advocating more electric options on the platform. .
