June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, and the Alzheimer's Association® need you to help raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Anyone with a brain is at risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, a disease that is often misunderstood.

Did you know:

  • More than 130,000 people have Alzheimer's disease in Mbadachusetts and 340,000 family members and friends provide their care.
  • Alzheimer's disease is fatal. It kills more than bad and prostate cancers combined.
  • Alzheimer's disease is not normal aging. It is a progressive cerebral disease without treatment.
  • Alzheimer's is more than a memory loss. It appears through a variety of signs and symptoms.

The Alzheimer's Association provides care and support to all people with Alzheimer's disease and their families. During the month of June, the Alzheimer's Association asks you to learn more about Alzheimer's, share your story and take action. Looking for a way to get involved in June? Here are some good opportunities:

  • Take action June 18 at the Mbadachusetts State House for the Alzheimer Advocacy Day. Enjoy a breakfast, listen to a legislative briefing and share your story with state legislators during the biggest mobilization of advocates for Alzheimer's disease and dementia in the Commonwealth.   • Join thousands of participants from around the world and honor those who face the disease by participating in the longest day on June 21st. The summer solstice is the perfect day to come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's disease through an activity of your choice. More information on alz.org/thelongestday.
  • Volunteer or take the road on a route of your choice, from 2 to 100 miles, during the Alzheimer's Alzheimer's Ride for Alzheimer's. This is one of the few cycling events in the country dedicated to directly influencing the pace and dynamics of our fight against Alzheimer's. Participants in On the road to defeating Alzheimer's disease and raise funds and raise public awareness to advance critical research and bring us closer to treatment.
