A number of chiefs and their residents from the Upper West region have commended the Akufo-Addo government for implementing programs that they believe continue to transform their lives.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the leaders and residents of Tanina, Bulenga and Tabeasi in Wa West, Wa East and Daffiama Bussie Issa districts were all commended by the government for its targeted approach to inclusive and sustainable development. having a direct impact, a positive impact on their daily lives, which revolves around agriculture.

Government policies were hailed by the fact that Vice President Alhaji, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, invited the leaders to participate in the annual Ramadan 2019 tour of the Upper West.

"We, chiefs and residents of Daffiama Bussie Issa District and the Tabeasi community, wish to thank especially the government headed by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, and your good self, the Vice President Alhaji, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. for the good work you do for Ghanaians, "said Maaliba's spokesman Alidu Kaakuu.

"About 97 percent of the people of Daffiama Bussie Issa District are farmers and we are proud of your flagship Planter program to feed and create jobs. Mr Vice-President, I am pleased to tell you that this flagship program really touches the lives of poor farmers and we are very grateful for that. We also congratulate you for the implementation of the One Village One Dam program, which will help us operate all year long. We are very happy with that.

"Another flagship program that we now enjoy is the Free SHS program, which farmers in the region, as well as the riding of DBI, are proud of because it is about smallholders. Their lives have improved and we are very grateful to them.
"You have a lot of programs in place, and my bosses and imams want me to tell you that we will help you implement these flagship programs so that the small farmers really benefit. We are proud of you.

"Another thing we are very happy about is that even though it is Ramadan, you have taken the initiative to come here to pray with us. This is the first time we have been here for years when President Rawlings visited this community, you are the first 2nd gentleman to visit this community.

Echoing Vice President Bawumia's crusade for religious acceptance and coexistence, the leader of Tabeasi said, "When we talk about development, let's forget Party A or Party B. I listened to you so much and I am proud of your approach to the Islamic community and the way you go with your work. The leaders and residents of Daffiama Bussie are proud of you.

In previous meetings with Tanina's leader, Sadik Gbele, and the traditional Bulenga council, led by Naa Seidu Nawologime IV, the leaders expressed similar sentiments, Naa Seidu Nawologime welcoming the construction of a large warehouse under the One District. A warehouse program in the district, he would no longer have to worry about losing his sweat because there was no way to store farm yield.

Tanina leader Sadik Gbele congratulated the government for implementing targeted agri-food policies that have improved access to improved seeds, extension services and subsidized fertilizers, improving thus considerably crop yields.

"Our children are also going to school for free now, which has freed us from a heavy burden," he added.

Vice President Bawumia has already visited Muslims in the Oti, Volta, East, Central, West, North-West, Bono, Southeast Asia and Pacific regions.
