Alhaji Haruna Halidu, member of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NEC), called on Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul to be relieved of his duties following the deadly clashes in Chereponi, in the region Northeast.
The resumption of clashes between Chokosis and Konkombas around Chereponi and Saboba has resulted in the displacement of more than 500 displaced people, as well as others fleeing the area to save their lives. Police confirmed the death of one of them while they were trying to restore calm in the area.
Alhaji Halidu, who spoke at the Focus on Power 97.9FM Weekend, noted that while President Akufo-Addo has failed to find a pragmatic way to end the conflict, Minister of Defense from one of the warring factions, should be relieved of his post.
The candidate for the NDC Parliament of Ablekuma Central believes that Mr Nitiwul has not been able to recall his people (the Kokombas) to order since the money began.

At the same time, the Minister of National Defense Dominic Nitiwul revealed that he was not part of the mediation process, but went to the north to ask his people to stop the fire and to seek peace.
He also badured that the peace process would yield good results for the resumption of economic activities in the region.
